Inshore lifeboat launched at 1456 to report of a person may have jumped from A2 Bridge, Rochester. ILB arrived on scene and carried out an exhaustive search of the river with nothing found. The ILB was released, leaving CG teams to continue the search. ILB back on station at 1740. SW 4.
Inshore lifeboat launched at 1237 after a call to UKCG reporting concerns for the safety of some people in the water attempting to recover a 4 x 4 stuck in the mud off the Shingle Bank, Minster, ILB arrived on scene to find a man still in the half submerged vehicle, with concerns for his safety he was advised to return to the shore, which he did. With unsuccessful attempts to recover the vehicle, the ILB crew recovered the tow lines for the safety of other beach users. ILB returned to station at 1330. NW 2.
Inshore lifeboat launched at 1754 after a call from UKCG reporting a Life Raft had been sighted drifting off Gillingham Pier. Whilst on route to the scene, the ILB was advised that Medway CRT had recovered a “Karley Life Float” (as found on small passenger vessels) at Gillingham fuel pontoon, believing that no persons were involved, the ILB returned to station at 1840. Inshore lifeboat launched at 0707 to report from Kent Police of a male possibly jumped from M2 Bridge, Rochester, after being seen the wrong side of rails on carriageway. ILB carried out a search from Gashouse Point up to Cuxton Marina, UKCG teams searching shore side and search joined by NPAS Police helicopter. Nothing found and with no further info, the ILB was released and returned to station at 0929. SSW 2/3.
Inshore lifeboat launched at 1503 to 8 metre craft with flat battery at anchor in Stangate Creek, River Medway, one person on board. Attempts by UKCG to find a craft to assist were exhausted, so after consulting crew, it was decided prudent to assist the craft before darkness fell. ILB arrived on scene and took the craft under tow for Queenborough, where it was duly secured with the assistance of the Harbour Trust. ILB returned to station at 1612. SW 2.
Inshore lifeboat launched at 1652 to report of a cruise aground close to seafront, Sheerness, 2 occupants seen waving for assistance. ILB arrived at location given at 1659, visibility extremely poor and nothing seen in area. Whilst searching the area, there was a break in the fog, the ILB sighted a craft aground on Grain Spit. Having established this was the craft in question, the ILB secured a tow and towed the craft into deeper water from where they escorted the craft to safety in the direction of Allhallows, ILB returned to station at 1735. Inshore lifeboat launched at 2225 to a report from the UKCG of possibly 3/4 persons in the water in the area of Sun Pier, Chatham. CG Helicopter Rescue 163 and shore based CG teams also proceeding, ILB on scene at 2305 and along with CG teams a search of the river was carried using infra-red and image intensifying equipment. With nothing found, the ILB returned to station at 0015. Estly Lt Airs
All weather lifeboat launched at 0244 after a call from the UKCG reporting a 7 metre Yacht with 1 person on board, the CG was concerned for the welfare of the person who was in a poor state having had no sleep for more than 20 hours, the craft had contaminated fuel and therefore no engine. The casualty craft was found secured to a commercial mooring at Blackstakes in the River Medway, a line was attached and the vessel was towed to a safe berth in Queenborough harbour, where they were met by Sheppey CRT. ALB returned to station at 0350. NW 5/6.
Inshore lifeboat launched at 2310 after a call from SE Coast Ambulance service of a lady on board a moored craft at Strood, River Medway suffering from a wrist injury. The ILB arrived on scene and located the craft, the casualty was taken on board along with another person from a craft a short distance away, both were landed ashore at the Esplanade, Rochester to a waiting Ambulance and Medway CG. The ILB returned to station at 0045. NW 5/6.
Inshore lifeboat launched at 0008 to a 8 metre Cruiser aground on Grain Spit with 3 persons on board and a dog, craft had suffered gearbox problem and gone aground. ILB arrived on scene and craft now afloat, all persons safe and well, craft taken under tow for Queenborough harbour, where it was safely secured and met by Sheppey CRT. The ILB returned to station at 0145. NW 3/4.
All weather lifeboat launched at 1734 to a 15 metre yacht with 3 persons on board, on passage from Canvey Island to the River Crouch, when it suffered machinery failure and was drifting in the rough seas. ALB arrived on scene, after safely putting a crewman on board, a tow was established and the casualty was towed to the safety of the Lower Camber, Sheerness Docks. ALB returned to it’s moorings at 2000. NE 6/7.
Inshore lifeboat launched at 2012 to report of a person in the water off St Mary’s Island, River Medway. ILB arrived on scene and joined the search with Cg Helicopter Rescue 163 and Medway/Sheppey CRT, Whilst searching, further information was received that the person may actually be in water in the Dockyard basin, with no access for the ILB, the helicopter and shore teams continued the search, whilst the ILB was released to return to station, where it arrived at 2145. NE 5/6.
Inshore lifeboat paged at 1409 for report of capsized dinghy with 3 persons in the vicinity of Gillingham, the ILB was cancelled, when it was confirmed that the Kent Police boat was on scene and dealing with incident.
Inshore lifeboat launched at 1155 to report of vulnerable person on M2 Bridge, Rochester, on route, the ILB was stood down, when it was confirmed person safe by Kent Police. ILB returned to station. ESE 2.
