Sheerness inshore lifeboat launched at 15:02 on Thursday 27 May when the Inshore lifeboat Buster was tasked by the UK Coastguard to reports of a Jet Ski with two people onboard that had broken down close to the Grain Martello Tower.
Having launched with a crew of three the casualty craft was quickly located. With a tow line attached the craft and its crew was towed to the Lower Camber Basin in Sheerness Docks where it was secured at 15:25.
The owners then made their own arrangements to have the Jet Ski and themselves recovered from the docks and returned to their base at Allhallows.
The inshore lifeboat launched again at 18:42 after being tasked again by the UK Coastguard who had received a call from a member of the public that persons, believed to be on Jet Skis, could be seen ‘waving’ and looked to be in trouble close to the Montgomery Wreck in the Medway Estuary.
Further information from a passing vessel reported that seeing no Jet Skiers but there was a group of Kayakers in the reported vicinity.
The ILB crew located the Kayakers midway between the wreck and shore off Sheerness and after checking that all were ok and not in need of any assistance the Lifeboat was stood down at 19:10and returned to station at 19:30. ENE f 3/4.
