Inshore lifeboat launched at 1746 after being tasked by the UK Coastguard to a report of a person in the water off Sheerness Seafront, on route the ILB was advised that a person had swum out to retrieve an inflatable ring which had blown off the beach. The ILB crew located the ring which had been recovered by a kayaker, there were no signs of any person with ring. Coastguard Rescue helicopter 163 was also on scene and carrying out a search.
Following a discussion with the Sheppey Coastguard Rescue Team ashore, it was confirmed that a person had swum out, but had returned to shore safely. With no one missing, the ILB returned to station at 1830. WSW 3/4.
The inshore lifeboat launched again at 2031 to assist a 19ft motorboat with 3 persons on board, suffering from an intermittent fuel problem in the River Medway. A yacht was standing by the craft. The ILB was on scene at 2036 by which time the owner had managed to solve problem. The lifeboat escorted the craft back to Queenborough Harbour.
ILB returned to station at 2120. WSW force 3.
