The volunteer crew of the Sheerness inshore lifeboat were tasked at 18:24 on Thursday 22 July 2021 to a report from the UK Coastguard of two boys in the water off Invicta Road, Sheerness, who were reportedly out of their depth.
The ILB launched at 18:42 and was on the scene at 18:46 where both boys were found to be in no danger, with the water around them only thigh deep and the tide ebbing,
In the interests of safety and to prevent any further calls the ILB crew members persuaded the boys to make their way ashore to where the Sheppey Coastguard Rescue Team were waiting to offer safety advice.
Once the two were almost ashore the ILB was released and returned to station and was ready for service at 09:15
