21st September

The ILB launched at 01:10 on a pre-arranged tasking after an earlier conversation with the UK Coastguard the previous evening. This was done to allow sufficient tide to flood to allow safe access and recovery. The Lifeboat with a crew of 3 onboard was tasked to  assist a 15’ fishing boat with 4 POB which had suffered water ingress and had gone aground North of Hoo Island , River Medway earlier the previous afternoon whilst attempting to make their way to the safety of Hoo Marina. The ILB arrived on scene at 01:45 and after rigging a towline had the casualty vessel under tow at 01:55. At 02:14 the casualty vessel was safely secured on a finger mooring within Hoo Marina and the ILB was released leaving the 4 persons in the care of Medway CRT who had also been tasked to assist. The ILB returned to Station at 02:50 and was refuelled and made ready for service. NNE F4.
