Sheerness inshore lifeboat ‘Buster’ were about to launch on exercise at 1148 on Sunday 21 March a call from the UK Coastguard requested they make their way to the Warden Bay beach area of the island in response to reports of a kite surfer potentially in trouble. With a crew of three onboard the Lifeboat was on scene at 1212 where two persons with a kite surf were spotted.
The Sheppey Coastguard Rescue Team were also on scene and confirmed the two people were now making their way back to shore.
Due to the low state of the tide the Lifeboat stood off until it was confirmed the two were safely back ashore and in the care of the coastguard team.
The Lifeboat was released from the incident at 1232 and arrived back on station at 1322 where it was cleaned, refuelled and ready for further service at 1350. Northerly 2/3.
