All Weather Lifeboat launched at 2040 after being tasked by the UK Coastguard to a 28ft cabin cruiser, with one man on board, reported with engine failure in Saltpan Reach, River Medway. The ALB located the craft on the edge of the waterline at Elphinstone Point and attempted to get close enough to pass a tow-line, but with the falling tide had to withdraw due to there being insufficient depth of water. After some discussion the owner said he would be happy to remain onboard until the next tide and would make his own arrangements to get the craft recovered.
The lifeboat was released and returned to station at 2130. Easterly force 4/5.
