The Sheerness RNLI inshore lifeboat ‘Buster’ launched at 3.34pm on Sunday 21 November with a crew of three to reports of two people stranded on Hoo Island in the River Medway. Making best speed the lifeboat was on scene and located the two men at 3.56pm approximately 100 meters west of Hoo Fort.
Having ascertained that both men were well they were then taken onboard the lifeboat and landed safely ashore at Gillingham where they were passed into the care of the Medway Coastguard Rescue team.
The men had paddled out to the island in an inflatable kayak which when they returned had disappeared,presumed to have been blown out to sea.
The lifeboat was released at 4.30pm and was back on station and ready for service again at 5.22pm.
Wind NNW F3 with slight seas and good visibilty.
