Sheerness RNLI lifeboat was launched to rescue three young men from Red Sand Towers after they had become stranded.
The volunteer crew of the Sheerness all-weather lifeboat ‘The George and Ivy Swanson’ were tasked by the UK Coastguard at 0833 to reports of three people being stranded on the Red Sand Towers in the Thames Estuary
Launching at 0857 with a crew of six the ALB arrived on the scene at 0928 and soon located the three young men who were then removed from the tower and taken onboard the lifeboat which then returned to the Lifeboat mooring in Sheerness docks.
The lifeboat arrived back on station at 1005where they were met by members of the Sheppey Coastguard Rescue Team and Kent Police.
The three young men said that they had become stranded on the Red Sand towers after their two RHIB craft had gone adrift on the tide. ESE F3.

ALB launched at 2254 following a report from UKCG of a craft possibly in distress off Canvey Island. ALB carried out search of area, along with other Lifeboats, nothing untoward found. ALB back on station at 0120, ready for service at 0203. SSW 6.

Inshore lifeboat launched at 1545 to assist in Multi – Agency incident at Rochester, ILB carried out search along with other units, nothing found, ILb released and returned to station at 1755, ready for service at 1815. Wstly 3.

Inshore lifeboat launched at 1812 to reports of lights on Grain Martello Tower. ILB on scene at 1817, four persons on tower fishing and happy to remain on tower until next Low Water, telephone contact obtained for CG welfare check, ILB released and returned to station, ready for service at 1830. NNW F2.

Sheerness inshore lifeboat launched at 2151 on Monday 4 January after a request from the UK Coastguard for assistance in a multi-agency incident at Rochester on the River Medway.
The lifeboat was stood down at 2320 and quickly re-tasked to remain at the scene pending information of another incident in the same area.
The crew were stood down at 2338 after the second incident had been resolved.
Returning to station at 0022 the lifeboat was washed down, re-fuelled and ready for further service at 0055.

All weather lifeboat launched at 1102 to report of a 27ft Yacht drifting close to the Montgomery Wreck. ALB arrived on scene at 1109, the yacht with 3 persons on board was taken under tow and proceeded towards Southend, where the casualty vessel was handed over to Southend lifeboat, to be towed back to its mooring. ALB returned to station at 1230, ready for service at 1300. NNW F3.
