All Weather Lifeboat tasked at 1502 by UKCG to a 26ft Sail Yacht with fouled propeller and unable to make headway under sail. 2 persons on board, position between Darnettness Fort and Jetty, believed Oakhamness. ALB launched at 1520, locating yacht at 1535, tow line passed over and casualty craft safely under tow at 1543, proceeding upriver to Gillingham. The casualty was safely placed in the locks at Gillingham marina at 1615, ALB released and returned to station at 1645. SW 5.
Sheerness RNLI Inshore Lifeboat ‘Buster’ were tasked at 1331 on Friday 16 August by the UK Coastguard to assist a 12’ sailing dinghy with one person onboard that was in difficulty off the Isle of Grain. The dinghy, on passage from Gravesend to Chatham, had suffered damage to its mast/sail and was unable to make progress against the prevailing winds.
Having launched at 1345 with 3 crew on board the ILB soon was on scene with the casualty vessel in the vicinity of Garrison Point, a short distance from the Lifeboat Station. A line was quickly secured and the dinghy was in tow at 1355 and taken to the safety of Queenborough All Tide Landing.
With the casualty secured at 1420 the ILB returned to Station at 1440 and was refuelled and ready for service at 1455. SW 5/6.
