Inshore lifeboat launched at 1744 to report of craft aground on Nore Marsh in the River Medway, unknown if anyone on board. ILB in area of marsh at 1814, due to tide, the crew would have to walk across very soft mud to reach marsh, due to this fact and after discussion with UKCG, Southend Hovercraft was tasked to assist. Once on scene, two crew from ILB were transferred to hovercraft and taken across to marsh, once on scene with the craft, it was found to be in a derelict condition and been there for some time, with no persons involved, the ILB and hovercraft were released. ILB returning to station at 2005. NNW 2.

Inshore lifeboat launched at 0208 to a report from Kent Police that a man was adrift in a small dinghy in the area of Gillingham Pier, River Medway. ILB arrived on scene at 0234 and quickly located the casualty, who it is believed had taken to the water to go look for another dinghy, which had either broken or been cut adrift earlier. The gentleman and his dinghy were taken back to Gillingham pier, where he was handed over to Medway CG and the Police. The ILB returned to station at 0325. SW 4/5.

25th August

All weather lifeboat launched at 0722 to a 33ft yacht with 3 persons on board, which had suffered machinery failure South of the No2 Medway Channel buoy, lifeboat on scene at 0752, craft safely taken under tow and towed back to Queenborough harbour, where it was safely secured. Lifeboat returned to station at 0918. NW 4/5.

Inshore lifeboat launched at 1659 to a small fishing boat with 4 occupants, broken down between Rochester and Strood, River Medway. ILB arrived on scene and passed a tow, craft towed back to its mooring at Cuxton Marina. ILB returned to station at 1915. SW 2.

Inshore lifeboat launched at 2225 to report of Red Flare sighted in the Rochester area of the River Medway. ILB arrived on scene and commenced a search of the river from Gashouse Point up to Wickham reach, the crew search the main channel and the shoreline, CG teams also searching. With nothing found, the ILB was released and returned to station at 0016/26th. SW 2.

Inshore lifeboat launched at 1313 to small 5 mtr Dayboat, out of fuel and partially aground in the Swale near Grovehurst Jetty, 2 persons on board. ILB on scene at 1329, casualty craft towed clear of mud and towed to Queenborough harbour, where it was secured at 1430, handed over to Sheppey CRT. ILB returned to station at 1442. SW 5/6.

Inshore lifeboat launched at 1635 to 8 Mtr Cruiser with damaged propeller near M2 Motorway Bridge, River Medway, 2 persons on board. ILB on scene at 1720, casualty craft taken under tow for Chatham Marina, on route, the passenger vessel “Jacob Marley” kindly offered to take over the tow as they were also heading for the marina.  ILB released at 1750, returning to station at 1825. Wstly 3/4.

Inshore lifeboat launched at 1717 to a report of a small inflatable with 2 occupants struggling to row against the tide near the Martello Tower, Grain. ILB on scene at 1724, the occupants had managed to row out off the tide and were almost ashore, the ILB kept a watchful eye on them till they reached the shore, the ILB returned to station at 1742. Wstly 3.

Inshore lifeboat launched at 2347 after a call from the UKCG reporting an incident at Rochester, the ILB was required to carry out a search between Rochester Bridge and Gashouse Point, the ILB was on scene at 0017 and received further information that calls for help had been heard from a craft moored close to the shore. The craft was located with a female onboard with a suspected broken ankle, Medway CG and Police on scene ashore. With very poor access to the casualty, the ILB handed over the incident to  Medway CG and the ILB stood off, the ILB was then released and returned to station at 0310, after the boat and its crew had removed large amounts of “Medway” mud, the ILB was ready for service at 0355. Wstly 3.

All weather lifeboat launched at 1250 to report of 34ft Sloop aground on Knock John near Tower, one person onboard, comms between casualty and CG were very poor, so contact was being made via mobile phone. Whitstable Lifeboat also proceeding, on route, advised by Whitstable, they were on scene and no sign of craft. ALB on scene at 1342, nothing visual, info was still being gleaned by the CG and person on casualty craft, reported he can see two red & white sticks with aerials and a seawall, it was believed the casualty was close to Foulness Point. Both lifeboat were stood down at 1350 and CG tasking rescue 163 to carry out shoreline search. ALB back on station at 1455. NW 5/6, rain.

Inshore lifeboat launched at 1102 to vulnerable person on Rochester Bridge, ILB stood down at 1109, person had been safely removed from bridge by Police. ILB returned to station at 1118. Estly 2.

Inshore lifeboat launched at 1625 to small speedboat with outboard failure approx. half a mile from Garrison point, 2 persons reported on board, only comms by mobile phone. ILB located casualty off Grain Spit at 1640, both persons okay, speedboat taken under tow for Queenborough causeway, where it was landed at 1656. ILB returned to station at 1710. Estly 2.

Inshore lifeboat launched at 1958 to report of persons cut off by the tide off Grain Beach, ILB arrived in area, nothing visual, ILB returned to the Martello tower off Grain, where a number of teenagers were sighted, ILB offered assistance to help the teenagers ashore in the small boat they had with them, but the offer was refused, ILB offered safety advice, which was also declined, with little more that could be done, the ILb returned to station at 2044. SW 3, Thunderstorms.

All weather lifeboat launched at 0330 to 8mtr Fishing vessel making water near Kentish Flats Windfarm, 2 persons on board. ALB on scene at 0420, crew of vessel had found the source of water ingress and stopped engine, using their own bilge pump and with assistance of lifeboat’s salvage pump, the craft was pumped dry and taken under tow for Whitstable harbour, where it was secured at 0545. ALB released and returned to station at 0625. Variable Light Airs.

ILB launched at 1124 to 28ft Cruiser aground on Queenborough Spit, 3 persons onboard. On scene at 1128, craft hard aground, with tide still on the ebb, the craft was made secure and the 3 occupants were taken off and landed ashore at Queenborough ATL, where the owner would make arrangements for re-boarding on the flood tide. ILB returned to station at 1205. Estly 2.
