Inshore lifeboat launched at 1400 to report of 19ft Yacht with broken rudder, one person onboard, initial position placed the craft upriver, but after further information, craft was NW of Garrison Point. ILB located the casualty at 1430, approx. half a mile from Martello Tower. Craft taken under tow for Queenborough Harbour, where it was secured at 1510, ILB returned to station at 1525. NE 3.
Inshore lifeboat crew paged at 0955 and placed on standby as protester’s from Greenpeace had boarded a Car Carrier and the dock where it was due to berth. The ILB remained on standby until it was stood down by UKCG at 1045.
Inshore lifeboat launched at 1338 to a 25ft motorboat broke down near Fowley Island in East Swale, there was one person onboard. Upon arrival of the ILB, the owner had managed to re-start his engine and ILb intended to escort the craft, but shortly after, the engine stopped again. The ILB secured a tow line and the casualty vessel was towed to Queenborough harbour, where it was secured. ILB returned to station at 1615. SW 4/5.
Inshore lifeboat launched at 2158 to report of small rowing boat with one occupant attempting to tow a 18ft Cabin Boat near Darnettness, River Medway. On scene at 2230, both craft taken under tow and towed to a secure mooring off Gillingham Strand. ILB returned to station at 2355. NW 2.
All weather lifeboat launched at 1535 to report of a 25ft Yacht in difficulties off Kingsnorth jetty, River Medway. On route to casualty, lifeboat was advised that it was reported that another yacht had taken casualty under tow, but not confirmed, lifeboat requested to continue. On scene at 1557, the casualty was in fact under tow of another yacht and was going to be placed on a mooring off Gillingham Marina, once this was safely done, the lifeboat was released and returned to station at 1700 amid heavy rain and thunderstorms. Westerly 6 to 8.
Inshore lifeboat launched at 1611 to report of a 25ft Yacht in difficulties to the west of Nore Marsh, River Medway, due to the inclement weather, the All weather lifeboat launched at 1620 to provide back up and safety cover. Both lifeboats proceeded upriver, no comms with casualty, but visual contact was made at 1638, a craft answering the description was seen sailing down South Yantlet creek and then crossed the marshes into Long Reach, at this point the occupants could be seen waving for assistance, both lifeboats on scene, the ILB crew reported there were 5 male occupants, all without safety equipment and ill dressed for the weather, they were transferred by the ILB across to the ALB, a towline was then secured and the casualty taken under tow for Queenborough harbour, once in the safety of the harbour, the ILB secured alongside and secured the yacht to a mooring buoy. The 5 occupants from craft were landed ashore into the care of Sheppey CRT. Both lifeboat returned to station at 1805. SW force 6 gusting to 9.
