Inshore lifeboat launched at 0417 to report of distressed person on Ship Pier, Rochester, Kent Police and CG in attendance, ILB requested to proceed, in case person enters the water. ILB stood down at 0439, personnow safe with Police. ILB returned to station at 0458. NNE 3.
Inshore lifeboat diverted from exercise following report from UKCG of a Jet Ski broken down somewhere between Leysdown and Whitstable, one person onboard and only mobile phone as comms. ILB proceeded to area off Leysdown, nothing seen, continued East and eventually located the jet ski off the Oyster buoy off Whitstable. Person taken onboard and jet ski taken under tow, Whitstable lifeboat requested to launch to take over the tow, this was done at 1419 and ILB returned to station at 1535. Wstly 5.
All weather lifeboat launched at 1404 to take over tow of 34ft cabin Cruiser in tow of the Southend Lifeboat, which had broken down with 3 persons on board. Having taken over the tow, the craft was towed to a safe mooring in Queenborough Harbour. ALB returned to station at 1543. SW 5, squally.
Inshore lifeboat launched at 1800 to 8 Mtr Yacht broken down and drifting close to Queenborough Spit, 2 persons on board, ILB quickly on scene and located yacht close to the shore behind No 5 berth, Sheerness Docks. Tow secured, yacht towed into deeper water and then into Queenborough harbour, where it was placed on a mooring. ILB returned to station at 1845. SW 3/4.
Inshore lifeboat launched at 1317 to 7 Mtr Yacht aground close to Martello Tower, Isle of Grain. ILB on scene at 1320, one person onboard. Yacht high and dry amongst the numerous obstructions around Tower. ILB crew laid out anchors fore and aft and made yacht secure. Owner then taken onboard ILB and landed back ashore at lifeboat station, ILB ready for service at 1410. Owner making arrangements to recover craft later in day. SW 6/7.
Inshore lifeboat launched at 2121 to report from Kent Police of a vulnerable person in area of Sun Pier, known to have been in the water, but had come ashore, unsure though if person had re-entered the water. ILB on scene at 2155, commencing search of area. ILB stood down at 2204, when it was confirmed, that person had been detained by Police. ILB back on station at 2240. SW 3.
Inshore lifeboat launched at 2055 to report of two persons in small inflatable dinghy, unable to row back to shore off Chatham Docks. ILB on route, sighted two Red Parachute flares from area, on scene at 2118, both persons located in a Liferaft, that they taken off a craft moored nearby, both persons had been in the water and were very cold, persons taken on board ILB and landed ashore to Medway Cg and Ambulance, ILB then recovered Liferaft and their dinghy and landed them ashore to CG. ILB returned to station at 2225. Estly 2.
Both lifeboats launched at 1415 to an initial report of two speedboats involved in an incident at the Thamesport Terminal at the Isle of Grain. Both lifeboats arrived on scene and it was reported that one of the craft had crossed the wake of another craft and one of the passengers had been thrown forward and injured. Along with the lifeboats, Kent Fire/Rescue, CG Rescue Helicopter and Ambulance paramedics in attendance, the person was treated on scene by paramedics and lifeboat crew and transferred safely to the berth, where the person was transferred to hospital by ambulance. The damaged speedboat was towed back to Sheerness, no one else was injured. Both lifeboats returned to station at 1700. NE Lt Airs.
Inshore lifeboat launched at 2037 to request from UK CG to rendezvous with Southend Hovercraft to a 22ft Cruiser aground on the mudflats off Hoo, there were 3 persons onboard. Having located the craft, a crewmember from the ILB transferred to the Hovercraft and he was able to guide the crew across the mud to the cruiser, the casualty was secured with an anchor and the three persons were taken onboard the Hovercraft and from there transferred to the waiting ILB, which landed them at Gillingham Marina. The ILB returned to station at 2220. SE 2/3.
Inshore lifeboat launched at 2256, in response to “Mayday”call from 5.5 mtr motorboat at West Cant buoy. 1 person onboard, ILB on scene at 2259, craft suffered outboard failure. ILB took the craft under tow and towed it back to its mooring at Kingsferry bridge in Swale. ILB returned to station at 0039. SW 3.
Inshore lifeboat launched at 2220 to small inflatable dinghy with 2 occupants, broken down and drifting off Gillingham. ILB in area, but nothing seen, ILB contacted the craft directly by mobile phone and location determined, ILB on scene at 2305, craft close inshore just upstream of Kingsnorth jetty. Both occupants okay, taken onboard the ILB and dinghy towed back to Gillingham Pier. ILB returned to station at 0005. SW 3.
