Inshore lifeboat launched at 0942 to assist 8mtr Motor Cruiser with engine failure, 2 persons onboard, casualties position near South Kent buoy, River Medway. ILB arrived on scene, tow secured and casualty towed to the safety of Queenborough harbour. ILB returned to station and re-housed at 1105. SW 4.
Inshore lifeboat launched at 1320 to 8 mtr Cruiser, reported to have engine failure and drifting with two persons onboard, believed near Grain Hard buoy. ILB on scene at 1326, casualty had been taken under tow of another pleasure craft and proceeding to Gillingham Marina, after ascertaining that all was well, the ILB was released at 1343, returning to station at 1353. All weather lifeboat launched at 1811 to assist a 14mtr Belgium Yacht which was experiencing engine problems in the Sea Reach Channel, 6 persons onboard. On scene at 1828, tow established and the yacht was towed to the safety of Queenborough harbour. Lifeboat returned to station at 2015. Estly 3.
All weather lifeboat launched at 0932 to assist a 37ft Ketch, reported to be making water, approx ten miles East of the station, there were two persons onboard. The lifeboat was on scene at 2151 and with pump ready, two crew were placed onboard the craft, it was discovered though, that the owner had managed to resolve the problem and was happy to return to Gillingham Marina unaided. The lifeboat was released and returned to station at 1045. Wstly 4.
All weather lifeboat launched at 2055 to assist a 8mtr cabin Cruiser which had suffered engine failure approx. 1 mile North of Eastchurch Gap, Warden, there were 2 persons onboard. The ALB arrived on scene at 2116, the craft was at anchor & the two persons were well. The craft was taken under tow and secured in Queenborough harbour at 2245, the lifeboat was back on station, ready for service at 2320. NW 3.
All Weather lifeboat launched at 1535 to 17 metre “Dutch barge” broken down and at anchor off Holehaven, 2 persons on board. ALB on scene at 1603 along with PLA Launch, after attempting to re-start engine, it was decided to take the craft under tow, the two persons from the barge were taken on board the lifeboat and due to the strong ebb tide, the barge was safely under tow at 1645 for Queenborough, the tow passed without incident and the casualty was secured on the all tide landing at 1755. NE 4
The lifeboat was then re-tasked at 1800 to assist using its Direction Finding equipment to assist in locating a 30ft craft, with one person on board, which was lost and aground, believed off the Maplin Sands. Southend lifeboat also proceeding. The ALB made contact with the craft and obtained a bearing, the craft was located high and dry on the sands off Shoebury. Southend crew going ashore to assess the craft, with little more that could be done by the ALB, it was released and returned to station at 1905, ready for service at 1930. NE 4.
Whilst on training exercise, the ILB was tasked by the UK Coastguard to a report from a member of the public of a capsized Kayak off Sheerness, the ILB was operating in this area and nothing was seen, it was established by the Coastguard, that the member of public, was in fact looking at the ILB, False Alarm with good intent. The ILB continued with its exercise. NE 3.
Inshore lifeboat launched at 0558 to 30ft Craft, one person on board suffering from exhaustion and disorientated, ILB located craft aground on Grain Spit, attempted to re-float, but craft hard aground, anchor laid out by crew and craft secured. Owner brought ashore to station, where he was met by local CG and an Ambulance. ILB rehoused at 0705. Nthly 4.
