Sheerness ALB was tasked by the UK Coastguard at 0900 to investigate reports of a potential upturned dinghy which had been spotted by one of the port Pilot boats in the vicinity of the west Cant Buoy in the Medway Approach channel. Launching at 0918 with a crew of 6 onboard the ALB immediately came across part of a rotten, weed covered dinghy – a conversation with the Pilot boat confirmed this was what they had initially reported and based on this information the UK Coastguard stood the ALB down at 0930.. The ALB returned to station at 0940. NW5/6.
