All weather lifeboat launched at 1704 to report of yacht taking on water at Upnor, River Medway, 2 persons onboard. The ALB arrived on scene at 1740, casualty secured fore and aft, but had picked up a mooring around its propeller and stern gear, which was allowing a slow ingress of water. Crew boarded the craft with portable pump, whilst another two crew launched the small XP boat to attempt to clear the mooring form the propeller, this was unsuccessful and not wanting to tow the craft in fear of doing more damage, the owner was happy to remain onboard to stem the slow ingress of water, until a diver could be sought to free the obstruction. As the ALB was about to return, they were tasked to a man who had fallen overboard from his yacht just upriver of the lifeboats position, having quickly arrived on scene, they found the man clinging to a small inflatable dinghy, he was quickly recovered and returned to his craft and no medical attention was required, the lifeboat crew assisted in mooring up the yacht. The ALB was stood down at 2008, returning to station at 2032. SSE 5.
