14th April

Sheerness RNLI all-weather lifeboat ‘The George and Ivy Swanson’ was just launching on exercise with a crew of six on board on Wednesday 14 April when a call from the UK Coastguard, at 19:33, tasked the lifeboat to a 24ft Yacht with four people onboard that had lost power but had manage to secure to the Zulu 2 light buoy in Saltpan Reach, which is close to the gas terminal on the Isle of Grain. The lifeboat was quickly on scene and after securing a tow line the casualty craft was towed to the All-Tide-Landing in Queenborough Harbour, where it was safely secured at 20:25.
The ALB returned to station at 21:00, ENE F3.
